Functional & Holistic Psychiatrist
Serving Georgia and Minnesota

Are you ready to build a life that you enjoy?

At Imara Health and Wellness, we specialize in helping health-conscious people who struggle with anxiety or depression create a holistic plan for conquering stress, overcoming depression and building a life that they truly enjoy - often without having to rely on prescription medications.

It's time to make the shift from feeling stressed out, overwhelmed and defeated to feeling confident, capable and in control of your own life.
Imagine being able to finally feel joyful and at peace.
Imagine having relationships that work.
Imagine being able to go from slogging through life to having productive, enjoyable and meaningful days.
If emotional health issues have been holding you back from reaching your full potential, it's time to make a change. If you've ever felt frustrated by treatment plans that haven't worked or by medications that have led to unpleasant side effects, it is important to know that there are options above and beyond medications that can help you feel your best.
Although prescription medications are always an option when needed, we have found that a combination of S.M.A.R.T. lifestyle interventions along with targeted nutritional supplementation are powerful tools that help our patients meet and exceed their wellness goals.

The Imara Difference

PictureReba Peoples, M.D.

As a psychiatrist and personal development coach, my number one goal is to help my patients and clients feel their best. As someone who delights in appreciating those unique traits and qualities that make each of us who we are, I recognize that one size definitely does not fit all when it comes to emotional wellness.

In my nearly 10 years of practice as a board-certified psychiatrist, I've helped hundreds of people just like yourself learn to tame anxiety, banish depression and finally start to build a life that they enjoy. The incorporation of functional medicine has been a critical tool that has truly allowed my patients to meet and exceed their wellness goals. This whole-person approach recognizes the impact of nutrition, stress management and relationships on your overall emotional health. It also recognizes how your unique biochemistry and genetics also impact your emotional health. This allows me to create a customized wellness plan that is unique to you.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What makes your practice unique?
As a holistic psychiatrist, I utilize a functional approach that recognizes the key role of nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress management and relationships as major contributors to overall well-being. Because of my additional training in functional medicine, I am also able to offer specialized testing for nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities, and genetic polymorphisms that influence how medications are metabolized in the body.
What should I expect from my first visit?
Your 2 hour diagnostic intake includes a thorough assessment of environmental and nutritional triggers that may be leading to imbalance in the body. At the end of the assessment, I will provide you with recommendations regarding lifestyle modifications, possible laboratory testing, suggested supplements, and nutritional recommendations.  I'm also happy to consult with your current psychiatrist, therapist, PCP or other healthcare providers as needed.
Do you accept insurance?

I saw dr. Peoples listed on my insurance plan - does this mean I can use my insurance at imara health and wellness?
No, Imara Health and Wellness is a private practice and has never contracted with insurance. Although Dr. Peoples has provided psychiatric services for other insurance-based practices in the past, any insurance listings that reference Dr. Peoples as an 'in network' provider are no longer up to date and not apply to Imara Health and Wellness.
